Bethesda Terrace sits at the heart of Central Park, a two-level terrace designed by Calvert Vaux with Jacob Wrey Mould, with Bethesda Fountain and its Angel of the Waters at its center. A short walk east, on Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street, The Metropolitan Museum of Art has stood at its present site since 1880, and its Beaux-Arts Fifth Avenue façade and Great Hall, designed by Richard Morris Hunt, opened in 1902.
