Canoe Place Inn & Cottages overlooks the Shinnecock Canal in Hampton Bays, about 90 minutes from New York City, on what it describes as the site of America’s oldest inn. The current inn was designed by William L. Bottomley in the early 1920s, after a fire destroyed the colonial-era inn in 1921, and it has since been restored along with its cottages, gardens, ballroom and pavilion. Couples can marry on the Great Lawn, gather for cocktails in the window-wrapped Pavilion and garden Rotunda, and celebrate in the ballroom.
